Hi,

I'm fouth year physical science education student in western Australia looking at coming over next year to teach on a supply basis and trip around europe on the holidays. just wondering from someone who did the same thing as i am planning to do what is the best way of applying for jobs, what pay is like and does supply teaching give you work most days of the week?
cheers
Liam

I am in London and have been here since last September. I have been supply teaching and have had work for almost every day. It is really tough some days but the pay is good (£120 a day and I was newly qualified). I do find that I have to travel a lot and that can be tiring. I am looking for a longer term position for September and I think I will go out of London to find a nicer school and somewhere cheaper to live.

Hi Liam, I have been to a few places since Spetember. You have to be disciplined to save the money though. I have been to Prague, Ireland and I am going to Spain over Easter.

No disrespect to SarahinLondon (I'm assuming that you are teaching in London!?) but there are real benefits to teaching outside London. I started there but I've moved out to Manchester - you have a similar level of pay to London BUT it's a great deal less expensive to live - meaning if your goal is to "teach n travel" you can put away a lot more for your trips.
