Overseas teachers Pay
|

| Meli - There is a form P86 which is available from the Inland Reveue (the government tax body here) which should be sent in on your arrival which tell the tax authorities here that you are coming in from overseas. it needs to be signed by you so can't be done before you arrive but make sure you get the school to do it for you (or get the form yourself when you arrive - maybe you can download it, and contact the IR from overseas, fill it in and send it from wherever you are coming in from - worth a try). I didn't know about this and neither did my school and so it took longer to sort my tax coding out than it should have. These are all the wonderfull things that you learn about in a new country!! There are much more enjoyable things to discover over here I hasten to add !!!! |

I have two years teaching adult graduate and traditional undergraduate students for a private university in the US. I also have 6+ years teaching business/business application software as a lecturer. I taught for one semester at a local HS teaching technology on an emergency teaching certificate when a colleague became ill, so as a professional education, most of my background is in business education.
I have a BA in management and human relations, an MBA in quality management, and am ABD in organizational management and leadership (2006). I have 10 years experience as a contractor doing competitive and business intelligence work.
I am interested in teaching in the UK and wonder what annual salary I realistically can expect?

| It tends to work here on years relevant teaching experience in the classroom. If you have a lot of other management type experience it makes it easier to get rapid promotion as the experience is often regarded as transferable. But 2 years experience would put you £22,000 mark B |

| Nothing personal, Brad-The-Inhaler, but I've heard wide variations in salary, depending on the school, etc. SOme will pay qualified pay, others won't. A friend of mine has far more teaching experience than I do, same degrees, but is making many thousand less. I have three years experience teaching secondary, and the remainder is uni teaching experience. THe original poster might want to check into it. I am getting qualified pay here, almost 29,000 annually, and this is my first year. DOn't discourage anyone. :-D |
