Initial costs

| I see . . . thanks for clarifying. So, quite new to teaching! And such a major move at this point! I hope things look up for you. |

| I started with $5000,00 US and that was a good amount. I went with a cheap one way ticket on Aer Lingus, paid the extra $200 to carry on two additional bags and didn't bother with having things shipped...well actually I did have one box of books and a few things I had forgotten shipped and that 10 pound box cost an additional $150 US. I've been buying used furnature and the like so it's alright. I am able to make it quite comfortably. It kind of depends on what you need individually though. I'm alright with a basic studio which is CHEAP at 395 pounds per month. The initial month hurt as I had to pay out for the rent and the deposit (790 pounds) on converted money. WATCH THE EXCHANGE RATE!!! I believe you will come out better if you buy pounds before coming because the buying rate is lower than the buy back rate...I lost quite a bit just simply because I didn't understand that there were two rates of exchange. |

When it is possible, pay with a credit card so you get the best rate. But for a rent might not be possible. It's always cheaper to buy the currencys in your homeland also.
