| Does anyone know about teaching english in korea? |

Yes. there are quite a few adverts here in Ireland looking for English teachers for korea. Its looks pretty legit and it would seem that you get your return airfare and accommodation provided as well ! Salary appears to be around 2000 euros pcm depending on which agency you are contracted to. I almost went myself this year but tbh I never have had any great desire to visit Korea. Especially not now that the dear leader is letting off nuclear firecrackers in Pyongyang !!! |

| I taught in Korea for 2 years. A wonderful country with a rich culture. They are a culture in transition. They are eager to learn English (family pressure, business, etc) but they are also working with some very traditional systems. They are making leaps and bounds with technology advances (LG is their major tech company after Hyundai) and are very competative with Japan. Blah, blah, blah- A GREAT PLACE TO WORK! They are amazing hosts and want to keep all the dedicated English teachers they can. I know that SMOE (seoul Ed board) is looking for teachers all the time. I would suggest that the pay is very good considering the cost of living, even in Seoul. They provide apmple travel time and breaks, and you are well respected by students. I worked in Daechon Beach (southern rural area) and in Seoul. Both were great experiences, but I did feel fairly isolated in the South, but it also allowed me to be really entrenched in the korean lifestyle. However, the military is ever present ( I heard gun shots from the base every morning) and I would imagine now more than ever it would have a military feel. |
