Teaching Assignments

Hello,
I am in the process of trying to figure out if I can actually make this happen. My boyfriend works for a company that will probably transfer him over in about a year or so. We are both excited...but I of course I need to find a job as well.
I am currently a Technology Applications teacher, which qualifies me to teach things like webmastering, digital graphics, video editing, multimedia, etc. I have several years experience teaching this at the secondary level. Even though it won't translate...I also went so far as to get my Master Technology Teacher certification.
For the last 3 years, I have been a campus technology specialist (teaching the teachers). The beginning of my career as a teacher was as an art teacher at the elementary school level for about 12 years.
Does anyone know if the technology positions like the ones I have here are available in the UK? If not, I have heard that positions in the primary schools are difficult, if not impossible to get. I am assuming that is doubly so as an art teacher in a primary school.
Any advice you can give would be appreciated. Just trying to assess my chances here of getting a job.
Thanks... |

You might want to actually email Bluewave -- I'm not sure how much they read the forum, but I've never seen them respond to anything here. Just a suggestion . . .
Good luck! |

Thanks,
I did. Hopefully I'll get some encouraging news.

Are you currently certified? What levels (grades) and subject?
There's a post on here of the qualifications required to get a position.
As you say, primary positions are tough to get, and I think (although I could be wrong) Bluewave only do secondary. |

• K-12 Lifetime Permanent Certification in NY State for Fine Arts
• PreK-12 Technology Certification in Texas
• MTT Certification (Master Technology Teacher) in Texas
Also have a Masters Degree (not in education) and 18+ years experience teaching prek to adults, special ed, inclusion and regular education.
If I need something else, don't think I'd end up going if it were something major ;-)
My concerns aren't so much that if I'm qualifed. I guess I'm more concerned that the stuff I can teach in the states just won't be in demand or won't translate well to the U.K.
Before I go too far down this rabbit hole of really really wanting to be there, I want to make certain that I can easily find a job -- and one that I WANT.
