Hi! I'm a secondary education and English double major with a minor in history and I'll be graduating in May. I'm very interested in teaching in the UK and Scotland in particular, but I'm concerned that I won't be a competitive candidate because I'm an American and I'm qualified in teaching English. I want to teach high school ages, and that consists mostly of literature, but will being an American still limit the likelihood that I get a job in the UK school system?

To answer that question, you might want to read posts here. I'm sure you'll learn everything you want to know . . .

Good luck!

There is a teacher forum over at TES http://www.tes.co.uk/community... />
There are specific areas for teaching in Scotland and Overseas Trained Teachers. Reading those, you might get some information. Also, many of the forums have "experts" you can ask questions to directly.
