Teachers in England, check in??

Who's still here? How are you doing? Please check in and say hello to all of us?
I'm doing well -- my school, which is in Special Measures for failing OFSTED last year, is really working to make improvements. That means a ton more work than if they were not in SPecial Measures, which is overwhelming, but it's a good learning process. I have to "soldier on" as Carly at Bluewave likes to say. :-D Of the 17 new teacher hired at my school this year, 6 have been asked to leave already. The teaching is tough, and not for the faint of heart, but it's do-able. Yes, there are days when I just want to bolt, but I don't. I'm committed, or maybe it's that I need to BE committed (to an insane asylum)? But I'm finally getting enough of all of this learnt so I can have a life outside of school once in a while! I get together with Meli about every month (who also posts here, and lives about 15 minutes away by train) -- tomorrow we're heading into London to do the Eye, and then the Zoo. I haven't taken a real holiday since arriving (too much work to do over the breaks to prepare for the next term), but I'm actually planning to go away for February break -- a week in Italy, I believe.
OK, we need to hear from others . . . Report in, soldiers.

| Hi, not a teacher checking in, just a quick question, why have certain new teachers been asked to leave? Are they really not trying, are they really not cut out for the work, other reasons? I have so rarely heard of teachers being asked to leave that it makes me a bit nervous, lol, I'm glad to hear your doing well! |

| I was wondering too. Why were they asked to leave? was it a lack of teaching ability or something else? How common is it for a teacher to be asked to leave before the end of the contract? |

Trying that again . . .
"Any new teachers around? How's it going?? Check in and say hello!"
