I am from California but am currently living in London- I am interested in supply teaching but am not sure about the requirements and was hoping someone could answer my questions.
The requirements to become a substitute in the US vary by state but for the most part you just need your bachelors degree and have to pass a basic skills test. This will get you licensed for a year or so.
Is there anything similiar to that here in the UK or must all supply teachers have a specific teaching degree or qualification?
I can not get a permanant job contract or commit to anything long term at the moment due to my wedding in California in April however I am looking for something flexible to do in the meantime.
If anyone could let me know it would be greatly appreciated. Also I forgot to mention that I have all of the necessary visa documentation/work papers for the UK.
Thanks!

In order to be a supply teacher in the UK you must have a specific teaching qualification or license. That is how i understand it anyway.

hi, im a teacher from ireland and generally the uk have the same requirements as ireland. in ireland you can do supply teaching if you are not qualified but the money is really bad- 80 euro a day v's 200 euro a day(qualified rate). you hear of some schools that take unqualified teachers but its generally if they are only very stuck.
