Hello :) I'm Englsih teacher in Poland (BA and MA). I am moving to England in June. I have adequate qualifications to work in Uk (I'm only waiting for QTS but it's a matter of time fortunately :)) However I have many doubts concerning teaching in England. I mean I am not sure what subjects I can teach :/ During my studies I had courses like English, British literature and history and many others. So could you please advise me? Can I teach in Primary school? As far as I know in Primary school each teacher teaches just one class and he/she covers all subjects. Shall I have some special course to do it?

Hi,

I teach at the secondary level so I really can't tell you much about getting a job at the primary level. A lady I ride the bus with in the mornings does teach primary school and she's from Greece originally so it's definately a possibility.
I think that your biggest selling point is that you are bi-lingual with both Polish and English. At my school in particular, we are struggling to effectively educate a growing population of Polish students who speak very little English. Your skills are definately needed here.
As for getting QTS, it's not difficult and you will have 4 years in which to get it done. It shouldn't take more than a year to do once you get started. Also, the schools provide some help with this...especially if they find you to be a valuable member of staff.

Good luck to you.
