Hi,

I would appreciate if anyone could tell me about the working hours in both secondary school and primary schools? Thanks a lot.

I teach secondary, and my school begins at 8:30, and they are dismissed at 3:05. Teacher requirements are to beat the kids in the door in the morning, and don't knock them down when leaving. Trust me when I say that some barely meet those criteria. :-D

Add to the requirements previously mentioned that there are morning briefings before school starts and some late evenings on occations... planning meetings, open nights, parent's evenings, ...etc. You are expected to be there for those. Last night was one such late night for me as it was the year 11 parent's evening. I didn't leave school until 8pm just after my last appointment. Other teachers were there until 9pm...

Yes, no different than anywhere . . . we also had parent's evening this past week (year 10), and year 11 next week . . . got out at 9:15 last week, and expect the same this week. But that's anywhere.

Just wanted to make that you knew about those requirements because the 1st post neglected to mention them. This isn't an easy job and shouldn't be entered into lightly.
