Thanks to you all for the previous replies. Anyone of you got kids? When you have to stay in school so late then where do you leave them?Because i'm single with a five year old, this now worries me if i got to stay till late. Are you allowed to take your child with you during these evenings? I will appreciate your replies. Thanks

I can't speak for every school in the UK, but no, you don't bring your children to work here, any more than professionals would anywhere. You find child-minders to take care of them in the evening . . .

Hi,

My school has a child care course as part of the curriculum so when we have all-school late evenings then those students and their teachers offer to take care of your kids. However, this does not happen for ALL of the late evenings.

Best advice is to discuss your concerns with the school that hires you. They may have advice on where to look for quality/reliable child care ...etc. There are MANY single parents working in the schools here and not all of them use the "Grandma Service" so it is something that can be managed.

Hope that helps,
Meli
