As English Teacher suggested, here's a thread for anyone else who is waiting patiently to get that fabulous call....
31 May is the date that teachers have to yay or nay for next year (or so I was told by a colleague).
How's everyone else holding up? |

Yup, we have 'til the last half term to give our notice (it's a term-by-term thing here -- not like in the States where you are contracted for the year. THey can sack you, or you can quit, with just a half-term's notice).
I *think* I might be famous tomorrow -- the article I referred to in the blog the other day should be out tomorrow in the Guardian (unless I have the date wrong). My fifteen minutes of fame . . .
Seriously, now that my school knows about the blog, they are planning to use it in a couple of ways -- as a recruiting tool as they seek overseas-trained teachers, and just as some positive press (we need all the positives we can get!).
I don't think it's all that great, but I enjoy doing it, and have heard comments that it's helpful to others in the position of considering an overseas position.
Anyway, I'm killing your thread -- sorry about that!
Any others awaiting 'The Call?' Check in here . . .

Hey, I'm still waiting, and haven't heard anything so far. I did have a dream 2 nights ago that Bluewave called me to say a school wanted to hire me without even speaking with me on the phone! woohoo, maybe that will come true!
I have gotten some calls from some US schools, but I hate to get too invovled there because I'd rather move overseas, but I hate to pass up any job really so I can get some experience. I spoke with someone from an agency that places in Scotland as well and have all that information in so I may end up in Scotland rather than England, but who knows! Good luck everyone. |

Again, just like Jess, I am waiting patiently as well... Except, I'm sure patiently probably isn't the best term.... I've registered with a couple of other organizations, as well as applied to several schools personally... I really want to teach in the Reading/Berkshire area, as I know it rather well and have lived there before... Plus, I just love the University... (Am thinking of doing a Masters/PhD in Children's Lit later, ie, I'll be teaching English next year)
I've also applied to some summer jobs in the area as well... I was planning on moving over in August, with or without a permanent teaching contract, but if I end up with one of the summer jobs, I would go over at the end of June... So, we shall see what happens.. I really look to any other introductions.. As opposed to just Jess and I... :-)
PS, yes, there are two Jess' from the Buckeye state... |

| Hi other Jess from Ohio. Good luck to you all. ;-) |
