English Teacher -- I was talking to my Irish friend and he was going on and on about qualifications. If I am going to England with a teaching license from Ohio, what goes on with being certified to teach as as English teacher?
I'm just wondering about what you have to get to be qualified -- or to have your certification recognized. Because I know in Ireland it's a real hassle of paperwork to get your qualifications recognized!
I have a job interview tomorrow -- at the school I currently work for... I was like "NOOOOO...I HAVEN'T HEARD FROM BLUEWAVE!!" But I'm going in with a smile anyways - just for kicks! |

I am having that same issue.. I had an interview on Monday with a school.. Actually, the only school in the WHOLE US that I've applied to.. I got an email back from them today saying they've shortlisted me and want to do a more formal interview next week... I was thinking the same thing... All I want to do is go to England.. However, I have heard a bit of buzz with regards to teaching vacancies in Reading, so I'm very hopeful.. Perhaps I'll have a bit more solid ground to walk on by the end of the week...

I hadn't anticipated any US interviews until summer (because that's what I saw last year) - so I figured I wouldn't have a problem. Now, I am wondering if I should just cover myself and if they offer, say yes untiil I do get the job I'm crossing my fingers for. But then again, is it bad to say "Sorry" if they are counting on you?
My Irish friend was quite unsympathetic towards school administration. |

I am having the same dilemma... The advice I have received is to keep doing through with the interview process and if they make an offer, take it, but don't sign anywhere... When everything comes together with England, explain to the other school another opportunity came up and that you are really very sorry, blah, blah...
I'm gonna see how this week goes.. Right now, all I have is interviews, nothing solid on any side.. Best not to count any chickens just yet...

| Cindi here. Also waiting. I'm not from Ohio, but rural New York, and I'm hoping to do the my first year teaching English in England (which I'm given to understand is a bit crazy). I've been following this forum for a few weeks and reading English Teacher's blog. Hello, all. |
