Hi Britomart,
Thank you for explaining the alternative teaching program to me. I'd never heard of it...I don't think Ohio has it. Where are you located? My imagination is placing you in New York or California....
This actually MAY be the sticking point. I think though since you are actually liscensed by your state, that you do still qualify. You will just have to explain and maybe even provide supporting documentation for them since it is likely to be a new area for the folks at Bluewave (as it was for me).
Try getting supporting letters from your previous principal...etc which include an explanation of your lisence. Also, gather information explaining this alternative program which can be sent to Bluewave. As long as you are a certified teacher with experience, I don't see this being a real problem.
Again good luck to you.

| p.s. You will have to work a bit harder at this point than the rest of us did, because your case isn't straight forward and obvious like the rest of us were. It's worth it though! Chin up. |

Meli,
Thank you for your reply (and encouragement)! I have explained the Alternative Teaching Licensing programme in my e-mail to Bluewave.
However, when you say to supply necessary documentation concerning the programme, does that mean printing off the process required to achieve an Alternative License?
Actually, I'm from Colorado. However, my state offers national licenses through the Alternative Programme, as long as you meet another state's requirements. You just need to reapply to said state's Department of Education.
The information for the Alternative License Programme is online. Therefore, do you believe I should print off the steps from the Colorado Department of Education's website to include in my application?
I do have statements from fellow teachers, principals, and professors concerning my teaching thus far. |

Hi again,
No, if the explanation is clearly laid out online then you can direct them to it if the clarification is needed. You're a state licensed teacher...it's just the wording of the process by which acquired the license that's causing a little confusion. I feel absolutely sure that's the sticking point. I believe this will all work out. But you will have to be a bit more patient than the rest of us did. :-)

Well, e-mail sent with all attachments.
I explained as best I could the Alternative Licensing program and provided the Bluewave Team with the necessary steps to be certified and licensed as a teacher in my state.
Now I just sit back and cross my fingers (and toes, and eyes, and hair).
Thanks for all your help! |
