Had a shocker of a day today! Students climbing the walls and almost lost it. Can anyone please remind me what I am doing this for?

Because you are probably really good at it even though right now you cant tell that. Hang in there- its hard everywhere, but its also hard to be a teenager sometimes too!

Hang in there! I just had a kid tell me he tried to slit his wrists last night and another who had to call the police on her dad because he had a knife to her mom.

Remember, you are touching the lives of kids every day and making a huge difference in their lives.

Thanks guys. Having a much better week!
The American - your school sounds similar to mine. I guess I need to detach a bit more from my work and not take it home with me or let it get me down. I am working on it!

Lucy: I'm happy you had a better week. Experience has taught me that when children behave REALLY badly it's because THEY are having problems that are driving THEM over the wall.

They are crying out for our help as teachers and THAT'S why we do it. It's our purpose... It's our role... The students need us to do it. Society will disintegrate if we don't. And although we feel the pain, deep down, we enjoy doing it.

Keep the faith. It sometimes gets a little worse before it gets MUCH better.

So here's my prediction.

Lucy, you're going to have a light week, filled with laughter and learning at the end of which you'll feel largely luckier than lots of us.
