Hey all...I just figured I would throw this out there...has anyone moved over with an unmarried partner? I'm just hoping someone has and that visas went through without a problem. I don't know why I'm worrying about it, I would just like to know if someone else has gone through it...what documents would you send? I have all the official requirements, but I'm wondering if there's any voices of experience there. Thanks! Amy

My partner and I came over 3 years ago. The way we did it was he decided to complete his degree over here, so came over on a student visa a month after me. Worked out fine. If not on a student visa, they do have partnership visas. I believe you have to prove how long you have been together and what your plans are. The main thing is that the government wants to know if they can be supported on your salary, or if they need a holiday work visa (like a green card).

Best wishes.

Patrick, I just saw this now...all apologies. My partner was able to get a visa no problem at all!! we used the unmarried partner visa and she had to include a letter about why she was coming and I included a letter stating point blank that we are a package deal and I would not be coming without her. We got the visas a few days after we applied...now I need to get school sorted and I'll be good! Thanks again!
