Hallo everybody. I was just checking to hear from those who are already hired and those who are not. I am waitng patiently but anxiety is building up at a very high rate. Anybody else still waiting. Is it too early or too late or the miracle call is on the way? Give me a word of encouragement or discouragement. I am teaching summer school in Arkansas US. We close on Thursday July 3rd.

Hi George,

Most schools have already hired for September at this point. There may still be a few calls going out, but the rush period is over. However, that does not mean that you won't get a call for the next school year. Schools are still in session here until the middle part of July. Also, schools over here hire some all year round.

Hope that helps,
Meli

I'd like to be honest, and very encouraging, and I hope I can do both of those! ;-D

Our school just hired two new teachers in the last week . . . so hiring is still going on. People get jobs right up until September 1st, although of course less frequently. There's also the 'pre-Christmas rush' as I call it -- all those teachers who walk out on jobs at the end of first term, and leave positions open.

Did you already give notice at your current job? So will you be jobless if this doesn't happen? Or if you didn't give notice, is it too late to do so??

Good luck!

Goerge I will give you a word of hope! haha My position last year didn't become avaliable until the end of July beginning of August, my school had an international teacher who didn't realize her visa was about to run out and so had to leave like immediately.

Also as others have said there are still some positions open, you can check TES (Times Educational Supplement) for schools who are still looking for teachers (though it is admitedly difficult for both parties with you being overseas).

I don't know if I can say this or if it's rude, but other advice is you can sign up with multipe agencies, they all have different contacts, etc. My position was found with another agency that was really nice, but different from Bluewave.

We had about 2-3 teachers leave with almost no notice and through the year so something can always come up, it is hard to play the waiting game though.

Thanks alot of you guys for your words of encouragement. I still have a chance to renew my Contract back here in the states. For those who are over there please continue representing us well. Thanks.
