I am a Canadian teacher and I'm very keen to come to the UK to teach. I've spoken with a few people about getting a work permit to teach. Is it true that you can get schools to sponsor you and get the permit? Does anyone know how long it takes and how you go about getting one? Any help would be great!

I came in on a Work Permit. I think that it's not too difficult to get sorted - I got it through the agency but the permit is for my employment specifically at the school I'm teaching in. My permit means I can teach here for 4 years without getting QTS too!

If a specific employer does not wish to sponsor your work permit application, perhaps you sould consider the HSMP Programme? You don't require an employer and it entitles you for 2 years in the UK initially! I hope this helps. http://www.internationalworkpe...
