Do we need to renew our working visa for teaching in UK in each year?

Why do you prefer teach in UK, but no USA, you cannot find a teaching post in USA? Brad

Hi Brad (Happy),
There are a number of reasons: 1)I love learning/experiencing new things, 2) Cultural Anthropolgy major so add curiosity, and 3) kind of had it with No Child Left Behind...Felt as though my hands were tied and no one was really considering what was best for the kids in my class. I know Britain has its own national education policies, but I'm hoping they are better thought through. If not...I still will have 1&2 going on my list AND will still be helping kids... I do love helping kids discover the joy of learning. It gives me an outlet for my creativity. ;-D Meli |

Forgot to ask: Where are you from and why did you make this choice? Are you already there? If so, are you happy with the choice? Meli

I've taught in a few different countries and my feeling is that the buzz you get from imparting knowledge is similar wherever you are teaching. As teachers we get these great long holidays and I have always felt I have to do something with them - so I travel. It seems to be a growing trend that people are starting to wake up to, that teaching is a unique profession lending itself to mobility. In fact, now that term is done I'm off tonight to travel through France and Spain for 3 weeks!.

Sorry Meli - to answer your questions , yes I'm here (for a few hours more) and very happy with the decision - it's a great adventure!
