Drug-Test Program?

I just read an article from the Associated Press online. It says that a school in FAVERSHAM, England has implemented a voluntary/random drug testing program to help deter drug use. The article further stated that Tony Blair is in favor of expanding this program to other schools and that officials in Washington are also considering a pilot of the program in the States.
What's the general oppinion of this program over there? Is it something that's being hotly debated or just drifting under the radar? Is it warranted? |

The test started in Jan 2005 and it's just hit the press again because the head who started it is just retiring. They say the school has had the best GCSE results in its history. I gather the programme was supported by the government at the time but as far as things are concerned here I think it's a bit of a storm in a teacup! |
