You know...I looked into this and found it was cheaper to pack and pay for extra luggage. US post Cargo is the cheapest that I found but the fellow said 1)it would take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive and 2)...this is the kicker...he said, "There's no way to guarentee it would arrive at all." Yikes...and it was still pretty expensive ($50 for a 20lb box). DHS is marginally less expensive than UPS or FedEx...at least going by the quotes I recieved.

If you find something better, I'd love to know about it. Looks as though I'm taking 3 (maybe 4 suitcases). Lots of luck...;-)

(Less than 2 weeks to go...Yipee! How about you?)

Unfortunately the extra luggage thing won't work for me. The carrier I'm on is $10 per extra kg....guess that's why my seat is so cheap!!! So I'll definitely be shipping. I'll let you know what I decide.

Hi TClayton,
I've done a little looking into this subject and I found this guy's website, and he offers some good ideas and advice. The info might be a bit old, but maybe there are some ideas that would work for you.

Hi TC, Meli, and HG,
Shipping over to the UK is pretty expensive. We get "care packages" (peanut butter, cold meds, m&m's...the necessities) once a month. Our most recent one was 4 pounds and cost the folks $55.85 to ship (12 days for delivery). My co-workers that left back to North America a few weeks ago shipped back 120 pounds of clothes and souvenires and it cost them 1005 GBP. Good luck searching for an economical answer. Live and learn.
