I am currently employed by the Ministry of Education & Scientific Research as an Education Officer to teach Mathematics to students within the age range of 12 to 20 in Government State Secondary Schools in Mauritius. The educational system in Mauritius is such that we have classes of mixed ability pupils in our schools. I teach Mathematics to students of Forms I to III consisting of 35 – 40 pupils and age group 12 to 14 and Maths and Additional Maths to students at O level and Mathematics at Advanced level. I make use of a variety of teaching strategies; I feel I have good classroom management and control skills while teaching in class. I have so far been a very efficient teacher and have won the esteem of my seniors and parents. As an extra curricular activity I’ve worked in collaboration with the Computer Department to set up a computerised Mark List System for teachers, I am also a member of some fund raising committees. In my spare time, I have been giving Government sponsored Computer Proficiency courses to people aged 10 to 60.

As Mauritius is a multi-racial and a multi-cultural country I have a broad experience in teaching and dealing with multicultural curriculum. The medium of instruction is English. I speak and write in several languages including English, French, Urdu and Mauritian Creole. I want to work as a teacher in the UK in order to widen my experience and share my teaching experiences with colleagues in England. I am self-confident, flexible and can adapt easily to new challenges. I am also hardworking, reliable and teach my students with devotion and to the best of my ability.
