Mady-Late's information
When I first began teaching, I modelled my teaching style after a mixture of good professors and teachers I have had. Over the years, I have gained confidence, experience and effectiveness through teaching and learning theories and professional development. For me, teaching (which itself is a learning activity!) also involves reflection. Of course, I reflect upon my teaching strategies and evaluations every month and by doing so, I learn from my students\' learning experiences in class. I continue to look for growth and develop innovative and creative strategies and methods to reach the needs of all my students and to provide insight into my career of teaching that I love so much. I always believe that my philosophy of teaching must be changing in order to maintain inspiration and creativity. Teaching is an ongoing experiment.
I believe in this quote from a French revolutionary Georges Jacques Danton. “After bread, education is the primary need of the people.” I am very passionate for education. In 1989, I returned to college to gain more educational knowledge and training. At the University Omar Bongo-Libreville (Gabon) I earned Masters degree in Geography (Specialization: Urban and Regional Development). At the University of Abidjan, I earned a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Geography (Urban and Regional Planning and Development), and a Certificate of Higher Education (Licence) in French Language and Modern Literature. After teaching for two years at Kpalime (TOGO), I left in 1994 for the United States of America where I found that there are many opportunities for teachers. I went to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I developed and successfully completed my M Ed. Curriculum and Instruction - Foreign Language Education Portfolio with the North Carolina Advanced Competencies (Instructional Expertise- Knowledge of Learners- Research – Content Knowledge- Professional Knowledge and Learning). In the Spring of 2006, at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I was enrolled into the doctoral programs in education. My dream is to earn my doctoral degree in Education.
