Michael's information
I have considerable experience of teaching design technology, although I am also qualified to teach EFL, and have previously been employed as a HOD in two schools in Barnet. I handled the budget and developed the programmes of study. After leaving Barnet I taught in a school in Herts where I introduced smart materials and set up a Systems and Control course for Year 8. I was also responsible for starting and running a Technology project that involved all the areas of this subject. As well as teaching the full range within resistant materiaIs and graphics.
I then moved to Harpenden to cover for a long term sickness. During my time there I was a form teacher, set up and ran, with help from Set Point and Brunel University, a highly successful “Young Foresight” course for all of Year 9, for which I was presented with a prestigious Crest Award, and taught a broad range of technology to all Years from 7 to 13. I also worked in partnership with the previous HOD on developing programmes of study and was solely responsible for introducing CAM to Year 8 pupils.
On my return from Asia I worked for two terms in Hertford where I covered for a vacant post. Whilst there I took a Year 7 form and taught Technology and Art from Year 7 to Year 13. I also ran a Technology club after school.
During my time I was again inspected by OFSTED who repeated their favourable comments concerning my teaching and materials once again.
