Donna-Lee's information
I believe that teaching is my calling. I enjoy dealing with children, young people and adults. Teaching is one of the best professions anyone could enter, since it really enables you to reach people of all walks of life. It is also one which gives you the opportunity to mould the lives of the young.
I have always tried to bring out the best in my students, no matter what the circumstances. My strength in teaching is that of being a mother and a counsellor to those who I come into contact with.
I have had four teaching jobs. The first job was that of being a pre-trained teacher when I just graduated from high school in 1995. In 2000 when I graduated from Mico Teacher’s College, I filled a two month’s position to teach Geography to students between the ages of 11-18 years old. The day my time ended I was recommended by the Principal to fill an eight months temporary post in the same parish, where I taught Basic Music and Social Studies to students 11-15 years old.
In 2001, I applied to Happy Grove High school where I have been since 2001. I have been teaching History to student’s ages 15-18 and Social Studies to ages 12-15. There have been many good times and a few bad times. Overall I have learnt a lot through out my teaching experiences. I went to Study at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, in Jamaica, where I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies/Geography.
