Charmaine's information

I am currently in a co-educational school of 2000 students; have been a form room teacher for the past thirteen years and a full time teacher of food technology,clothing and textiles to GCSE, CXC and NVQJ. Although I have only 5 years experience since gaining my bachelors of education, I have been teaching in a classroom environment for over 10 years.

The reality is that the world is ever changing. In the wake of technological advancement there will always be new developmental strategies that will affect how students are educated.
As a teacher, I see my roles as that of a consultant and facilitator whose aim is not only to impart knowledge but to do so in such a way that will cause a change in behaviour.

My philosophy of teaching is that learning can only take place when there is a change in behaviour. This can be best facilitated when the teacher is equipped with valid information about student\'s backgrounds and their strengths and weaknesses; with this knowledge, the teacher will be better able to plan and direct lessons to meet student\'s needs.

I have practised direct instruction and team teaching which have been helpful in my quest to cause a change in behaviour. I see myself as a dynamic and flexible individual, and I am knowledgeable in my content area and keep abreast of changes and new developments. This has helped me to deliver my content with confidence and efficiency.
