My approach to teaching, which includes rigorous standards, high expectations, and the extensive use of technology, proved highly popular with students. I pioneered the practice of producing audio recordings of classroom lectures so absent students could keep up with their class work. I also found time to devote over twenty years to coaching basketball, volleyball, softball, and tennis, including eight years as the girls’ varsity tennis coach at Davenport Central High.

I have taught a variety of subjects over the years, including psychology, ancient history, American history, English literature and writing, and reading.
