Laurence's information
I have 6 years experience teaching drama at both the high school and community college level. For the past three years I have been the Fine Arts Chair and Department Head for Theatre. I have a BFA, MA in Directing Theatre with a minor in Costuming. I also have a teaching certificate from Texas through SBEC.
I would like to expand my supervisory experience in the Fine Arts area. Ultimately this would lead to pursuing a terminal degree (MFA or Phd) in Theatre or an Academic field. It would be great if this opportunity would arise while being overseas, specifically in London.
As a teacher also able to speak Spanish, I believe that I have a wide range of experience to offer UK schools. I am highly computer literate; have undertaken numerous professional development courses (within areas ranging from Shakespeare to scene-writing) and have worked in a range of schools producing a total of 27 theatre productions.
My philosophy is one of ensuring that I challenge, engage and motivate students to learn drama; always striving to include modern technology and ICT in lessons and to at all times provide student-centred learning. Furthermore, I am responsible for overseeing several budgets and sit on two committees.
In short, I genuinely believe that I am a teacher with sufficient experience and passion to bring something special to the right school in Great Britain.
