Kelly is a student–focussed English teacher, dedicated to creating a positive learning environment and making a difference in students’ lives.
Kelly possesses leadership qualities with enthusiasm and high energy; has guidance and counseling experience; possesses a command of verbal/non-verbal communication skills; enjoys building long-term relationships and relating to all types of personalities and is very empathetic.
She has previously volunteered with school-aged girls, helping with their schoolwork on a twice-a-week basis. Kelly helped one of these girls plan and prepare a weekly dinner for at least fifteen people.
During her student teaching experience, Kelly managed classrooms of 7th through 12th graders, undertaking the responsibilities of a regular classroom teacher. These included professional development; communication with parents; assessments of students and staff meetings. Kelly collaborated with cooperating teachers to design curriculum and lesson plans; performed basic administrative duties such as recording attendance and organising students’ portfolios and provided individual assistance to students as needed.
Kelly did her best to incorporate constructivism philosophy of teaching into the classroom by implementing various student-centered learning methodologies; significantly enhance the class environment by acting as a facilitator to promote students’ leadership in initiating and creating positive learning opportunities. She also integrated interdisciplinary subjects into curriculum, supplementing class lectures and developing students’ word processing and researching skills. It was important to utilise the internet for resources on current events.
Hands on teaching styles are important to Kelly for some students, as is maintaining a good relationship with their parents
In her spare time, Kelly enjoys volleyball, having travelled to numerous games across the USA.
