Lee Anne's information

This year marks my 12th year teaching. I started as an arrogant second career professional who thought I would change the system and make everything better. It took me two months to realize the extent of my ability and success as a teacher reached only to the ends of my fingers. I can teach my students academics, I can help them learn life lessons and I can mentor them when they ask it of me. Correcting the system turned out to be doing the best I can in my class with the students in my care.

My strengths in teaching come from developing the right blend of serious, boundary setting adult leadership behaviour with a well placed wink or friendly nod. I set a quick classroom place and set high expectations for my students. I invest a great deal of energy working with my students showing them how they can rise to my standards. Overwhelmingly, they are willing to work towards those goals when they know I believe in them.

I have the good fortune to teach Advance Placement classes and have achieved a certain level of success. My students perform better than the national average which is wonderful considering they are on 1½ years younger the average tester. We all have to work hard and together to achieve this standing. Teaching is most definitely a collaborative effort.

I spend a good deal of time during the school week taking care of leadership tasks as I am the chair of our school advisory council, head up our Business Partners in Education task force and our Campus Beautification committee. All three positions are voluntary positions and I feel very strongly about the importance of each one.
