Renee's information
I’m currently a graduate student at the University of Florida, attaining my masters in Social Studies Education. I have had two practicums—one in a high school and one in a middle school that allowed observation and gradual total teaching control of classrooms. Furthermore, I’ve had a comprehensive internship with a 9th grade (14-16 year olds) World History class for an entire grading quarter where I was the primary teacher. All were amazing experiences in which I was able to experiment with styles and find my own persona in the classroom. I believe in Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory and believe in conforming my teaching accordingly. I alter my style based upon the individuals who I teach, but on the whole, I believe in facilitating learning—providing the basic means of information, study, and experiment for my students to then take the next step to learn for themselves. History is a mystery to be solved, questioned, and pondered, and I want my students to enjoy the thrill and enigma of it. The study of history is extremely interesting and exciting to those who professionally study, and I hope to impart upon my students some shred of that thrill!
