Kate's information
I will shortly be completing my PGCE in Post-compulsory Education and Training at Edge Hill University and my placement at (South) Trafford College in Altrincham. The PGCE course I am on is a level 6 course, which is endorsed by SVUK and has eligibility for QTLS.
Through my placement I have been exposed to and have carried out many of the key duties involved in the role of a teacher, not simply classroom teaching. I plan all my own lessons – currently up to 15 hours per week – and have had to report on students’ progress and attainment, including marking work I have set, coursework, and reporting to senior members of the English department team.
My love for the English language and literature is something which inspires my teaching and I contextualise my teaching to enhance the learners’ experience so that they can understand and appreciate texts and our language to the full. My interest in the post-16 sector, and compassion for young people and adults in education, is clear through the approach I take in my teaching and the devotion I show to all those under my care.
I have always enjoyed the study of English and although my own educational experience may not have been as standard as I would have liked, I returned to education so that I could excel.
