Teaching Biography

Susana's information

In the last year of my graduation I taught supervised by my English and German tutors. I had 2 classes of English ( 9th and 11th grades) and 2 classes of German ( 10th and 11th grades). I had my first year of classes and I had the chance to teach by myself and I corrected some postures and mistakes I was doing.

When I finished my graduation I began teaching adults during a few months. It was very interesting because they didn’t know anything about English so I had to teach them since the beginning. It was a rewarding experience.

After that I taught English to students from 6 years to 18 years. I was giving individual lessons. It was an interesting experience because I had lots of levels and I was always in a hurry. Those two years I also taught German to students in the 12th year.

Then I began to teach in a private school but where the students don’t pay to study there because the State pays for them. Here I taught English to the 8th, 9th and 10th grades. Here I had some serious problems with indiscipline but I tried to “gather” my students to learning of English. Many of them didn’t like English because they thought they didn’t need it. They just wanted to work in something or play football.

I tried to show them the importance of English and I always tried to teach things that interested them. The problems of indiscipline were a problem but I always had in mind that the students have their problems and we (teachers) have to understand them and try to give them the sense of responsibility so they can achieve their goals, whatever they are.
