Teaching Biography

Lisa's information

I have been the lead teacher of a class for students on the Autism Spectrum for three years at P368K in Brooklyn, NY. Prior to that, I worked for several families and their service teams with children on the Autism Spectrum, children with Speech Delays and a child with William’s Syndrome, a genetic condition causing developmental delays.

Within my classroom I utilize the TEACCH program, Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). I focus on building academic skills as well as self-help, communication and social skills. I also focus on behaviour management and use the token reward system. I have taught students ranging from grades K-6 (ages 6-12) on all functioning levels, including those with severe communication delays and extreme behaviours that can be typical of children with autism.
