Mark's information
I am a dynamic and enthusiastic individual, with a broad experience in diverse educational environments, and a fervent commitment to learning and personal growth. My background in education, coaching, and the arts has provided me with many leadership opportunities, and the chance to connect with students on multiple levels. As an educator I plan on doing my part to train the next generation by focusing on five elements of education that I believe to be essential to learning. In order for a teacher to generate student achievement and success one must maintain high expectations, a well-managed classroom, content mastery, parental involvement, and an unwavering commitment to developing life-long learners.
• I believe schools must strive to develop students’ abilities to think critically and creatively, and should encourage students to pursue leadership opportunities and community service.
• I believe teachers set the tone for learning by providing a structured learning environment with established classroom procedures and consistent, well-planned lessons.
• I believe that without forgetting the need for differentiation among students with varying learning styles, teachers should promote academic rigor, personal discipline, hard work and respect for authority. Content should be built upon the foundation of concepts that have stood the test of time while stressing the relevance of what students are learning to current events taking place outside the classroom.
• I believe that the more the school and the family are joined as partners in educating young people, the greater the children’s chances for success.
• Above all, schools should strive to excite students’ curiosity and hunger for knowledge in an effort to produce life-long-learners.
My desire is to employ creative and innovative instructional methods that will challenge students to realize their full potential as they pursue their own purpose. By embracing a broad philosophical stance on education I hope to satisfy not only my needs as a diverse individual, but to also provide a more inclusive atmosphere in regard to various students, their families, and their cultural heritage.
