Kathryn's information
I am flexible and can adapt easily to changing circumstances and expectations. I have considerable international experience and have often been called upon to operate in environments which are culturally and physically new to me and to relate effectively with people of different cultural backgrounds. I am also able to accommodate the needs of learners of different ability levels. This has been especially important working in ESL, during my student teacher placement working in the Learning Strategies Centre, and as a volunteer with the Special Olympics and the Saskatoon Autism society.
My contributions to the school environment extend far beyond the classroom. During my student teacher placement in Vancouver I cosponsored the Writer’s in the Making club and assisted with the Global Issues Group. As a student teacher in Dalian China, I offered after school tutorials twice a week to all my Social Studies students and was an active member of the English Corner which allowed students to spend time with their teachers and practice their English conversational skills in an informal environment. I have also been active in the community everywhere I have lived, doing volunteer work in Canada, studying Tae Kwan Do and earning a black belt in Korea, and studying Chinese and helping establish a local football club in Taiwan.
