Beth's information
I have 8 1/2 years experience as a visual arts teacher in the Holyoke, Chicopee, and Springfield, MA school systems. I hold Massachusetts Professional Licensure in Visual Arts., PreK-9. I have a BA degree in Art/Education from Westfield State College and a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from Springfield College.
When the art program was eliminated in Chicopee, despite excellent evaluations and 8 years experience, I was laid off as I was two months short of having tenure. While I was seeking another full time appointment, I gave private art lessons, had showings of my art work, was a substitute Title 1 teacher and also worked at other temporary positions in the art field, i.e., visual display person at Macy’s until I was eventually hired by the Springfield School System.
I also do my own artwork as well as photography. In January 2007, I had an exhibit of my photos at City Hall, Springfield which was featured in the local newspaper and I currently have a showing of my art work in downtown Springfield.
I have a wide range of projects and lessons for all grades including computer art programs. I have effectively integrated multicultural lessons and projects related to other subjects, i.e., language arts, math, social studies, music, etc. I have an easy rapport with students of all ages. By hiring me, you will get a versatile, resourceful and creative employee with a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for the arts.
