Settling into the UK
At Bluewave, we take the responsibility of supporting our teachers very seriously. We understand that moving from another country is a huge task (especially if relocating with your family) and this is why we try to minimise any possible frustrations by making sure you have as much information as possible. On one hand, it makes this section particularly long, but we felt that it was important to make sure you had all the tools to help settle you into your new country.
There will be a myriad of things on your mind when you first arrive in England, but there are three crucial tasks that need to be done in the first couple of weeks. By completing these tasks you will be establishing an identity for yourself in England, you will avoid being over-taxed and you will be able to obtain medical assistance at short notice.
The first 3 things to do when you arrive:
Setting up a Bank Account:
Setting up a bank account in the UK can be a very frustrating business but we have developed a relationship with the HSBC bank in the UK and an introductory letter will be included in your Welcome Pack. It is important that you open your account as soon as possible to avoid any delay in setting up payroll at your school. Please take your introductory letter together with your passport and any other proof of identification to your nearest HSBC bank and they should readily open an account for you.
