Insurance Matters

Travel Insurance

This is obviously your choice at the end of the day. Some teachers simply get a couple of weeks travel insurance to cover the initial transition and then obtain household insurances etc here in the UK. There are several large and highly competitive companies so you can generally shop around for great prices.

Whatever you chose, it is important to ensure that you are covered for any damage or loss to you or your personal belongings.

Car Insurance

At some point in time, if not immediately, you will probably need a car or have to drive here in the UK. Remember to ask your current Car insurance provider to write you a letter or certificate stating your "no claims" status. Some insurers here in the UK will take this into account when providing insurance and this could result in you saving hundreds of pounds per annum.

Driving Licence

For citizens of many countries, as long as you have your full licence or driving permit and it remains valid for up to 12 months from the date of entering the United Kingdom, then you are licensed to drive on the roads here in the UK. However, we recommend you clarify this for yourself, so visit: www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/drvingb.htm
