Tax Matters

All teachers in the UK are subject to tax on their earnings and must also make a contribution to National Insurance (NI - See Health Matters). To its simpliest form, England has a staggered tax system, which essentially means - the more you earn, the higher the tax rate!

Tax Rates

Starting Rate 10% up to £2,150

Basic Rate 22% from £2,151 to £33,300

Higher Rate 40% over £33,300
