Term Times in the UK

Most schools operate a 39 week year broken into three terms starting in September and finishing in July. Each term is made up of approximately 13 teaching weeks with a 'half-term' break of one week after approximately 6 weeks of teaching. A rough guide is available below:


Term 1 (Autumn term) - September Start

Half term holiday (1 week) - October

Christmas holiday (2 weeks) - Late Dec to early Jan

Term 2 (Spring term) - January Start

Half term holiday (1 week) - February

Easter holiday (2 weeks) - Late March/Early April

Term 3 (Summer term) - April Start

Half term holiday (1 week) - Late May/Early June

End of term - Mid to Late July
