When applying for an international teaching position, it is important that you know exactly what you have to offer and what it is you are ideally looking for. By answering these questions, it will help you to narrow down your search and also assist Bluewave in making sure we find the position that suits you!

Here are some starting points for you to think about:


  1. Where is my preferred location?
  2. What are my specialists' subjects and of these, which is the main subject I wish to secure a position in?
  3. What age groups am I prepared to teach?
  4. What type of school am I seeking? (Type, Culture, Ethos, Size, Performance, Reputation etc)
  5. What extra curricular skills can I offer my new school?
  6. Is my resume as comprehensive as it could be and will it stand out from other in a pile on a headteachers desk?
  7. Do I understand culture shock and how this will affect me when I first arrive in England?
  8. Do I have a basic understanding of the English Education system, curriculum taught and legal obligations?
  9. What are my salary expectations?
  10. Do I know which Visa I am entitled to obtain to enter the UK legally?
